Opioid Overdose Surveillance Report
This report describes fatal (mortality) and nonfatal (morbidity) opioid-involved overdoses in Georgia during 2016, including prescription opioids, and illicit opioids such as heroin, fentanyl, and fentanyl analogs. Opioid overdose data were analyzed by the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) Epidemiology Program, Drug Overdose Surveillance Unit, using Georgia hospital discharge inpatient and emergency department (ED) visit data, and DPH Vital Records death data.
