Parental Monitoring and Risk Behaviors and Experiences Among High School Students
Based on data from the 2021 Youth Risk Behavior Survey:
- 86.4% reported their parents or other adults know where they're going and whom they'll be with
- Parental monitoring was more prevalent among females than males, more prevalent among Asian students compared to Black students, and less prevalent among students who self-identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual compared to heterosexual or questioning or other students
- There were no differences in parental monitoring by grade
